## Is Travel to South Africa Permitted?
Current Travel Status
As of June 2023, South Africa’s borders are open to international travelers. However, certain travel restrictions and requirements are in place to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.
Visa Requirements
Citizens of most countries do not require a visa for tourist stays of up to 90 days. A list of countries exempt from visa requirements can be found on the Department of Home Affairs website.
Entry Requirements
Negative COVID-19 Test: All travelers must provide a negative COVID-19 PCR test result obtained no more than 72 hours before departure. Alternatively, a valid COVID-19 vaccination certificate can be presented.

High-Risk Countries: Travelers from countries with a high incidence of COVID-19 may be subject to additional restrictions, such as enhanced health screenings or mandatory quarantine.
Land Borders: Land borders with neighboring countries may be closed or have limited entry points. Travelers should check with their respective border authorities for the latest information.

Travel Insurance: It is highly recommended to purchase travel insurance before traveling to South Africa.
