## Building a Simple River Raft

A river raft is a great way to enjoy a day on the river. It’s a relatively easy and inexpensive project to build, and it can be a lot of fun.

### Materials

To build a simple river raft, you will need the following materials:

Logs: The logs should be about 6-8 feet long and 6-8 inches in diameter. You will need at least four logs, but more is better.
Rope: The rope should be strong enough to support the weight of the raft and its passengers. You will need at least 100 feet of rope.
Nails: The nails should be long enough to go through the logs and the rope. You will need at least 50 nails.
Hammer: The hammer will be used to drive the nails into the logs.
Saw: The saw will be used to cut the logs to the desired length.
Measuring tape: The measuring tape will be used to measure the logs and the rope.

### Instructions

1. Cut the logs to the desired length. The logs should be about 6-8 feet long.
2. Lay the logs parallel to each other. The logs should be spaced about 2 feet apart.
3. Tie the logs together with rope. The rope should be tied around the logs in a figure-eight pattern.
4. Nail the logs together. The nails should be driven through the logs and the rope.
5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 until the raft is complete. The raft should be at least 4 feet wide and 8 feet long.
6. Add a seat to the raft. The seat can be made from a piece of plywood or a couple of logs.
7. Add a paddle to the raft. The paddle can be made from a piece of scrap wood.

### Tips

Use logs that are straight and free of knots. This will help to ensure that the raft is stable.
Tie the logs together tightly. The logs should not be able to move around when the raft is in the water.
Use a strong rope. The rope should be strong enough to support the weight of the raft and its passengers.
Add a seat to the raft. The seat will make the raft more comfortable to use.
Add a paddle to the raft. The paddle will allow you to control the raft when you are in the water.

### Safety

Always wear a life jacket when you are on a river raft.
Never raft alone. Always have at least one other person with you when you are rafting.
Be aware of the river conditions. Do not raft in a river that is too fast or too shallow.
Obey all boating laws.
