The Power to FLY!

Powered Paragliding & Paramotoring – PPG Products!

We have the best selection of the products Pilots want when it comes to flying these unique ultralights.

Paramotoring is enjoying a surge of popularity in America, and for good reason – it’s an aircraft that literally fits into the trunk of your car! In less than 15 minutes, a pilot can set up for a remarkable new form of flight.

Combine the simple elegance of a modern paraglider with one of the backpack paramotor units and you have the ability to fly when you want and where you want (with consideration for the weather).

paramotor is a powered paragliderThe Power Pack

The motor that powers us to dizzying heights is nothing short of remarkable. These lightweight engines have an incredible power to weight ratio, start easily and are fitted onto a backpack that you can easily walk around with.

With one of these motor units, the propeller gives you thrust, allowing you to launch, climb, fly level or glide down through the air on a paraglider at your own will.

These motors are some of the most powerful, yet low maintenance aircraft engines you will find anywhere. They are rugged, reliable and extremely easy to use.

paraglidersWings of Freedom

Today’s paragliders are really amazing flying machines! In about five minutes, a trained pilot can set a paraglider out onto a launch site and step into flight that can last for hours, even without power. Add the motor, and now we can fly just about any time of day!

The first step in becoming a good PPG (Powered Paraglider) pilot is learning how to control the paraglider wing. Mastery of this is paramount to our success as a pilot, since we are flying an aircraft, after all!

Kiting the wing overhead allows you to clear the lines before takeoff, and the better you are at controlling the wing on the ground, the better your understanding of flying the paraglider will be.

Powered Paragliding requires significant training. We will not sell essential PPG flight equipment (i.e. wings or motor units) to anyone until we have verified that they have arranged for training with a recognized instructor.

Foot Launch Training at Oregon Paramotor

landing-matt.png

Oregon Paramotor offers Foot Launch powered paragliding (“paramotor”) training. Paramotor training will be one of the most rewarding things you will ever do. We have different options for training schedules, but typically training takes 8-10 consecutive days to go from ground dweller to sky dominator.

We take great pride in our extensive training program, and you will leave Oregon Paramotor with all the skills necessary to launch, maneuver and land at your home flying site without assistance or worry. From day one we focus on safety, along with fully grasping the rules, complexities, and regulations surrounding our sport.

Standard Plan – $2,700.00

2023 Booking starting in January 2023

The foot launch course is a 8-10 days process. This course includes ground handling or ‘kiting’ lessons, classroom lectures, online and written materials, and as many flights as we can fit in during your stay. Usually around 15-30 flights.

Rental of all the gear and equipment you could need is available at an additional cost (see below).

At Oregon Paramotor we train at roughly 1-2 students per instructor. This means you will have one-on-one time with the instructors and they will be at your side every step of the way.

Typically, by day 3 or 4, depending on weather and student progression, you’ll be ready for your first solo flight! After first flights, instructors will continue to hone your launch & landing skills, while progressively giving you less and less input. Before you know it you’re flying on your own with little to no assistance. This usually happens around flights 10-20.

Once launches and landings are more comfortable, and students are performing them independently, our instructors introduce more airborne concepts like steeper turns, spot landings, motor-out simulations, cross-country considerations… and the students and instructors go out and fly the area together. It’s a blast. Trust us.

Our students go home with not only the skills necessary to fly powered paragliders, but the knowledge to keep themselves and others safe and the wisdom to make sound decisions as Pilot In Command of an aircraft.

Weekender Plan – $2,700.00

During the non-summer months, when the weather is more variable and the temperatures are lower, Oregon Paramotor offers its “Weekender” courses. These days of training don’t have to only be on weekends, but there are usually one or two days a week that are good flying, so we put those to good use!

Rental of all the gear and equipment you could need is available at an additional cost (see below).

Both the instructors and students will have to be flexible and ready to work if the weather is looking good for a stretch of days. We keep an eye on the 10-day forecast, and a couple days before the good flying weather the instructors and students agree to meet. Often it’s every weekend in a row, sometimes it might be several weeks between training sessions. It truly depends on weather and schedules.

This scattershot training can take longer then the 8-10 days of straight training in the summer, but in the end you get the same great result. Freedom from the bonds of gravity. Typically, 6-8 ‘weekends’ of work is needed, depending on student aptitude and skillset.

Gear rental – $600

Although we strongly recommend students purchase and use their own equipment for their training courses, we strive to have the best rental rental equipment available if you need.

Our gear rental gives you access to our wide variety of industry leading powered paraglider equipment that is available for students to use. We’ve found that using the lightest paramotors and quality Flow & Ozone wings for students reduces damaged equipment… and egos.

Parajet Maverick – Moster 185+ units

Flow Future (beginner gliders)

Ozone Mojo PWR 2 (beginner gliders)

Flow Cosmos Power (intermediate gliders)

Other equipment included

We have a full suite of various things that are required, handy, and downright useful for our courses. Just a few of the things below are around the Oregon Paramotor school.

Instructional classroom with seating, television & whiteboards

Comms Helmets, radios & cables

Full-throttle outdoor paramotor hang-simulator for simulating & visualizing first flights

Glider Handling Skills

Before you can run ‘into the air’, you’ll first learn how to control the glider on the ground. Our instructors artfully teach you this fundamental piece of learning to fly powered paragliders

IMG_0194.jpg

Solo day is the day your life changes. You ‘run into the air’, your feet leave the ground, the wind and open vistas astound you, and the instructors guide you back to the ground without incident.

For us as instructors, this is the most rewarding part of training

Classroom Courses Covered

Our paramotor training includes many hours of in-depth classroom based material to teach you the ins and outs of powered paragliding flight. We pride ourselves in having developed an industry leading syllabus.
