Fallasburg Covered Bridge

It’s a historic wooden covered bridge in a place that’s exactly like someplace that would have a historic wooden covered bridge.. with the historic preserved small town of Fallasburg next to it. it would’ve been completely in place if horse draw carriages instead of cars were on the road. It’s a time capsule with the bridge as it’s center piece. It’s absolutely a must go if your there in the fall during peak colors and not uncommon to see newly weds having pictures by it year round.

Not sure what to say, always nice to visit here. The natural view and surrounding always present a relaxing few moments away. Whether visiting for a stroll, or a picnic along side the river. The scenery is nice year round.

Cannonsburg Ski Area

This was a great spot for snow tubing. The hills are high and fast! We took a weekend trip there for my son’s birthday, it was such a great adventure. The magic carpet was a real plus, no walking up the hill saved us time and energy too.

Perfect ski spot for me, a beginner still. Not a big mountain. Nice, long, easy and intermediate slopes. Lift ticket + plus equip rental is $65 full weekday! Manmade snow on the slopes at noon when they open. Not at all crowded before 5. Crazy crowded after 5 and weekends.

I’ve been to Cannonsburg plenty of times and it never disappoints. Recently visited here with a work group to go tubing. It was a riot. The staff are always nice and very helpful. The lodge is a great spot to get food and drinks as well.

Frugthaven Farm

Super fun stop a bit farther out, but worth the drive. Their selection of ciders is extensive and is sure to please everyone in the group. Set in a clean section of farmland, you can see why someone would want to have their wedding here. It’s very clean and upkept, with nice fireplace seating on the outdoor patio. The market had a small selection of different goods alongside cider and donuts. The cider donuts had a great flavor, but seemed just a tad dry. Overall we really enjoyed our time here and we plan on returning!

Visited property for a 2 day retreat held here and found Frughhaven farm to be a beautiful venue with lovingly maintained spaces. So much care and attention to detail has been poured into this property. The staff was friendly and the icing on the cake was delicious coffee and donuts.

On the outskirts of Grand Rapids, this place is a true joy to visit and a welcome retreat from the more commercialized coffee or cidery. Seriously good coffee, flights of hard cider, AND a personable haircut in a vintage barbershop at a reasonable price.

The Blind Squirrel Tavern

Yeah. Everything about this place is stellar. The atmosphere, the waitresses are in a great mood, speedy and helpful. Nicole was over 100% for service and was a pleasure to buy drinks from. Wings and salads were amazing. We loved The Squirrel, and we will be back. Go here, spend your money here! 2 pool tables and a dining area as well.

Great place good food, cuban could have used a lil more meat. Not sure about there smoker sitting outside, I mean, I guess all the people walking by just stay out of it, but who knows.. Heck I wanted to open it and see the meats, but I didn’t, or did I. Maybe they have a camera. But it is awesome they have an area with pinball machines and arcade games!

Great in town bar, always busy with a good atmosphere. Wait staff and bar staff are great. Plenty of options on the food menu to satisfy all appetites. Always a great time when we go here. I recommend the drunken rooster burger

Pilgrim’s Run Golf Club

Played in a charity marathon here this past Monday, and I wish I could take this course home to Phoenix with me. Mike Rey and his staff “get it” when it comes to running a premier golf facility. You won’t be disappointed at all. Make it a regular stop on your golf calendar. I hope I can get back up there again someday.

Beautiful and fun course, really seems like a hidden gem. Easily would have given a 5 star, but I do have two complaints. Myself and a friend had a 9:30 tee time, and while warming up discovered that we had been paired up with another twosome. If I had know this would happen, we would have gone elsewhere. Thankfully the gentlemen we were paired with were great guys and lots of fun. 2nd complaint is somewhat related. We were not going slow, but at a comfortable pace. Our new, random partners were in their 70’s and I was not going to rush them along. Near the 15th hole, an employee on a cart interrupted us while putting to tell us we were going too slow and that there was two open holes in front of us. So our random foursome decided to scramble the next few holes to get caught up while the employee watched us from the cart path. We scrambled one par 3, which the employee followed us to, then we were stuck behind a group in front of us. So. how were there two open holes in front of us if we caught up after one hole? And was it justified to follow our group from one hole to the next? It was very uncomfortable and put a damper on what was shaping up to be a great day.

In top 20% of courses I have played, but not fond of the abundance of two tiered greens. I also prefer denser fairway grass. The course is a beautiful design with many bunkers and more than a few water hazards.
