In order to better understand energy, you will be tasked to engineer a bungee cord that will optimize the enjoyment and thrill of a doll’s bungee jump.

To do this, you will first use inquiry to develop the patterns for gravitational energy, kinetic energy, and elastic energy. Once the patterns have been established, you will further build on your spreadsheet coding skills, in order to create a program that will help predict the length of a bungee cord necessary for a variety of situations.

I can design an App to determine the length of cord for a safe bungee jump.

The Patterns Approach Physics resources were created through collaboration with industry members, higher education representatives, high school science teachers, and middle school science teachers. The resources include labs and activities that cover the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) for high school earth, life, and physical science AND incorporate engineering practices. The Common Core State Standards (CCSS) for Science and Technical Subjects have also been incorporated.
